The book is bound in black leatherette, with 2009 foil-stamped on the cover. An identical 2009, printed in grey, appears on the cover of the dust-jacket. The simplicity of the cover design contrasts with the complexity of the dust-jacket’s interior.

A python script (engineered by Maulik Desai) generates a unique text-ornament composed of all possible word combinations from the letters in a student’s name. The resulting ornaments serve as settings for the students’ names.

Students were photographed full-figure against a white background, giving them the opportunity to explore poses and props excluded by traditional head-and-shoulders portraiture. Photographer Caitlin Norgard is responsible for the spectacular quality of the results.
